Travis Scott is aiming to bring an exciting and dynamic twist to his Coachella set this April, as he looks for a marching band from a historically Black college or university (HBCU) to join him on stage for a live rendition of his hit single “4×4.”
The rapper took to X to make his request, inviting any HBCU or college band, big or small, to take on the horn arrangement for “4×4.” Scott, known for his boundary-pushing performances, even offered to help cover a semester of tuition for the students selected to join him.
“Any hbcu or really any college with a band… Show me something,” Scott wrote. “I’m down to bring u with me to Coachella… And possibly figuring out a way to take care a semester cause college is hard. But music is fun.”
The post generated widespread excitement from fans, with many eager to see which band would get the chance to perform alongside Scott. This follows his live experiment with a marching band during his performance of “4×4” at the College Football Playoff National Championship Halftime Show in January.
Scott’s latest single, “4×4,” recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his fifth chart-topping hit and his first since 2020. The track, produced by Tay Keith, racked up 16.2 million streams in its first week, along with 167,000 digital and physical copies sold. Proceeds from merch and CD sales are being donated to Los Angeles fire relief efforts.
