Scott Snell, a Hastings resident and local entrepreneur, is working to revive family-friendly live entertainment in the area with the inaugural Mahina Music Festival. Set for Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Hastings City Auditorium, the event aims to reignite the live performance spirit that was dampened by the pandemic.
The three-act country music lineup includes Kearney’s Nate Keim, local favorite West Wind, and The Derailers, an Austin-based band known for their performances at the Grand Ole Opry and The Conan O’Brien Show.
Set against a rodeo-themed backdrop featuring straw bales and stock gates, the festival promises a lively atmosphere, complete with food trucks, and beer and mixed-drink options for adults. A dance floor and ample seating will add to the festive vibe, as Snell hopes to establish this as an annual tradition in Hastings.
Tickets are available for purchase online via the festival’s Facebook page or at the door.
