Legendary artist Gino Vannelli has marked the release of his deeply personal album, The Life I Got (To My Most Beloved), with a new music video for the uplifting track “No Where To Go But Up.”
The album, which Vannelli wrote and produced himself, reflects his journey through personal hardship, particularly the loss of his late wife to cancer. Featuring 11 tracks that explore the emotional challenges of grief and resilience, The Life I Got offers a powerful message of perseverance and hope.
The song “No Where To Go But Up” captures Vannelli’s soaring vocals in a fusion of pop, soul, and jazz, delivering a message of strength in the face of adversity. The anthemic lyric “Up is your only friend” resonates as a call to rise above life’s obstacles.
Commenting on the video, Vannelli shared, “It’s a really nice video, full of smiling faces of young aspiring dancers, singers, and musicians. Two long days, shot in the streets of Belgrade, but worth every bead of sweat. And as for me, just what the doctor ordered… have a good time!”
The Life I Got (To My Most Beloved) is Vannelli’s 22nd album, marking his return after a four-year hiatus. Known for his remarkable 50+ year career and global sales exceeding 20 million albums, Vannelli’s latest work is his most intimate to date, recorded at Inka Studio in Portland, OR, with co-producer Peter Fil.
