The 17th annual Cabin Fever Music Festival will wrap up this Saturday, March 1, with an electrifying rock performance at Übergeek Brewing Company in Riverhead. The festival’s final show kicks off at 3 p.m., promising a high-energy rock ‘n’ roll experience to close out the event.

This year’s festival, which has catered to a wide range of musical tastes, included everything from punk rock to folksy acoustic sets. With events at both Übergeek Brewing and North Fork Brewing Company, the festival has showcased a variety of genres, culminating in this week’s rock-centric finale.

Founded in 2007 by music lover Brendon Henry, the Cabin Fever Music Festival was born out of a need to liven up the slow winter months, when local venues rarely hosted live performances. Henry sought to create an event that would not only offer bands valuable exposure but also draw crowds into local venues during the traditionally quiet February period. Reflecting on the festival’s origin, Henry shared, “The winters out here used to be brutal, no one was around. We came up with the idea to get bands exposure and bring people into local establishments during the slowest time of the year.”
