Taylor Swift has made history by being named the IFPI’s Global Recording Artist of the Year for a record fifth time, further solidifying her dominance in the music industry. This marks her third consecutive win, following victories in 2022 and 2023. The prestigious title is awarded based on a combination of physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming, making Swift the undisputed top-selling artist worldwide in 2024.
The announcement, made on February 18, revealed that Swift outpaced Canadian rapper Drake and K-pop powerhouse SEVENTEEN for the top spot. Swift’s latest triumph adds to her previous wins in 2014, 2019, 2022, and 2023, making her the most decorated artist in the history of the IFPI’s Global Recording Artist Chart.
Now in its 12th year, the IFPI ranking remains the only chart that comprehensively measures an artist’s popularity across all major platforms, including streaming, digital downloads, and physical sales worldwide. Swift’s consistent success on this chart cements her status as the reigning global music icon.
