Brandi Carlile has premiered her new single “Wandering,” a collaboration with the Makah Singers, which was crafted for NBC/Peacock’s nature series The Americas. The song, which debuted alongside the series this week, celebrates the natural beauty and Indigenous heritage of the Pacific Northwest.
“I was absolutely thrilled when I was asked to write and perform for The Americas,” Carlile shared. “For me, the Makah people are the foundation of understanding the Pacific Northwest. Along with other proud tribes, they embody the essence of this region. ‘Wandering’ goes beyond being just a song—it’s an expression of something much deeper.”
Narrated by Tom Hanks and featuring a score by Hans Zimmer, The Americas highlights the diverse landscapes and wildlife of the vast supercontinent. The series uses groundbreaking technology to showcase never-before-seen behavior and tell the untold stories of Indigenous lands, spanning from the Arctic to the Southern Cone.
In addition to her contribution to the nature series, Carlile is preparing for the release of her upcoming collaborative album with Elton John, Who Believes in Angels?, due out April 4. The duo recently debuted the vibrant music video for their single “Who Believes in Angels?” directed by renowned photographer David LaChapelle.
