Mayday Parade has released a tender new ballad, “Towards You,” a love song that captures the band’s emotional depth. Featured on their upcoming album Sweet, set for release on April 18, the track is a simple yet powerful expression of love. Frontman Derek Sanders explained, “Sometimes all you need is an acoustic guitar, some singing, and some strings to tell someone how much you love them.”
The lyrics reflect this sincerity, with Sanders singing, “I’m still singing ’cause you make me feel less small / You are the wave beneath it all / You lift me when I fall down.” The song’s gentle melody is a perfect match for its heartfelt message, which Mayday Parade hopes will resonate with their fans.
“Towards You” is part of the first installment of Sweet, the first in a three-part album series. The band has already given fans a taste of what’s to come with earlier singles “By the Way” and “Pretty Good to Feel Something.”
The release comes just ahead of Mayday Parade’s highly anticipated 20th-anniversary tour, which kicks off April 22 and runs through October 19. Guitarist Alex Garcia reflected on the significance of the tour, saying, “This tour is the culmination of the band’s career for the past 20 years, and we really wanted to go all out and provide our fans with a memorable and very special experience.” The tour will celebrate both their extensive catalog and new releases, creating a unique experience for long-time and new fans alike.
