Finnish heavy rock band Leverage is excited to announce the release of their new album Gravity, scheduled for June 20th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. Following their recent single “All Seeing Eye,” the band has unveiled their second single, “Shooting Star,” along with an official music video, available now.
“Shooting Star” is a dynamic anthem that captures themes of escape, defiance, and transcendence. The track begins with an unexpected twist before launching into a powerful mix of galloping riffs, thunderous rhythms, and soaring vocals, reminiscent of metal’s golden age. The song blends mythic storytelling with melodic power, creating a sound that bridges Leverage’s past and future.

Band Comments on the New Single
Lead vocalist Paolo Ribaldini shared his thoughts on “Shooting Star,” calling it one of the album’s most surprising tracks. “Tuomas stepped away from storytelling and focused on expressing deep emotions through the music and lyrics. It feels like something classic Dio-era Rainbow might have created today. The song also features stellar performances from my bandmates and will surely become a favorite in our live shows. Special thanks to Marko and Taksu for their passionate work on the music video—it adds depth to the song and will give fans an unforgettable experience.”
Guitarist Tuomas Heikkinen explained the song’s origins: “I started working on ‘Shooting Star’ after installing a Bigsby vibrato on my black Les Paul. I love the old-school tone it produces, and I began playing around with basic chords. I had a clear vision of how I wanted the song to sound, and I knew Paolo would nail the vocals perfectly. This song set the tone for the entire album, and it allowed us to explore new sonic textures.”
Leverage’s Resurgence
After the tragic passing of former singer Kimmo Blom in 2022, the future of Leverage was uncertain. However, founding member and primary songwriter Tuomas Heikkinen decided the band’s story was far from over. The arrival of lead vocalist Paolo Ribaldini (Delain, ex-Skiltron) and violinist Lotta-Maria Heiskanen revitalized the band’s sound and direction.
The upcoming album Gravity, Leverage’s sixth full-length release in just under 20 years, showcases a modern heavy rock sound that blends influences from the genre’s classic era with the band’s distinctive style. The album features engaging melodies and top-tier production that highlights the band’s unique musical identity.
Leverage doesn’t fit neatly into any single genre. They are not a power metal band, an AOR band, or a nostalgic ’80s tribute act. Instead, the band has redefined genre boundaries, creating their own brand of heavy rock that speaks louder than words.
A New Chapter in Leverage’s Legacy
Gravity reflects Leverage’s musical evolution, drawing on the grand melodic traditions of their debut Tides (2007), the symphonic elements of Circus Colossus (2009), and the darker, more mature tones of Determinus (2019) and Above the Beyond (2021). While the album pays homage to the past, it also pushes the band’s sound to new heights.
The current lineup includes Tuomas Heikkinen (guitar), Marko Niskala (keyboards), Elias Ojutkangas (drums), Sami Norrbacka (bass), Paolo Ribaldini (vocals), and Lotta-Maria Heiskanen (violin). Fans can expect to see Leverage live on tour soon.
