Ed Sheeran has shared his plans to transition into country music in the future.

In a recent interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the British singer revealed that he is considering switching genres. When asked by host Alex Cooper if he planned to release a country album, Ed expressed his love for Nashville, saying, “Nashville is, like, my favorite city in the States.” He went on to say that his ultimate goal is to move there and fully embrace country music.

“I feel like I have to do it properly,” Ed explained. “Once you transition to country, you can’t go back. Once you’re in, you’re in.” He emphasized that country music requires deep respect, stating, “It’s not just, dip in and out.”

Over the years, Ed has worked with several country artists. In 2023, he released a duet of his song Life Goes On with country singer Luke Combs, which they performed together at the ACM Awards. In 2019, Ed collaborated with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars on the track Blow.

Ed’s comments about transitioning to country music come shortly after he announced that his upcoming album will be titled Play. He hinted that it may be part of a series of albums.

Several pop artists have recently ventured into country music, including Post Malone with his debut country album F-1 Trillion and Beyoncé with Cowboy Carter. More recently, Chappell Roan released her first country track, The Giver, in March.
