Taylor Swift swept the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, taking home nine awards.
The 33-year-old pop star won nine of the 11 categories for which she was nominated, tying the record for most wins in one night. According to MTV, she now has the second-most wins overall with 23, just shy of Beyoncé’s record of 26.
Accepting the iconic Moonperson trophy for Video of the Year for Anti-Hero, Taylor said, “This is incredible. I just want to say that the fact that this is a fan-voted award means so much to me. Based on the memories that we’ve made lately – I’ve just been on a tour that’s been the most exhilarating experience and we’re not even halfway through… All I have to say tonight is thank you.
The Shake It Off singer won all the major categories, including album of the year for Midnights, artist of the year, song of the year for Anti-Hero and best pop.
Taylor’s win in 2023, after accepting the trophy for All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) in 2022, marks the second year in a row that she has won the coveted Video of the Year award.
