Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones has admitted that his arthritis has changed the way he plays the guitar.

The British rocker opened up about how arthritis has affected his life as a musician in a recent interview with the BBC.

When asked if his arthritis affects his guitar playing, the 79-year-old replied, “Funnily enough, I have no doubt it has, but I don’t have any pain, it’s sort of a benign version.

He added: “I think if I’ve slowed down a bit, it’s probably more down to age.

Keith noted that he finds a new way to do something when he can no longer do it with the guitar.

“And also, I found that interesting, when I’m like, ‘I can’t quite do that anymore,’ the guitar will show me there’s another way to do it. A finger will go a different place and a whole new door will open,” he explained. “And so you’re always learning. You never finish school, man.

Hackney Diamonds, the Rolling Stones’ 24th studio album, is currently being prepared for release. The album will be the rock band’s first new release in 18 years.

The album, which is scheduled for release on October 20, will feature guest appearances by Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Elton John.
