After being criticized for his awkward interview at Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix, Machine Gun Kelly has hit back.
The rapper, real name Colson Baker, was approached by Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle to walk the grid before Sunday’s Formula One race.
After brief, clumsy responses, Kelly asked Martin to play air piano while he played air guitar, but the former racer refused. The music star gave a thumbs-down gesture to the camera and then walked away, with Martin joking, “Something tells me I won’t be on his Christmas card list.”
Kelly was called out on social media for the “excruciating” exchange, and he later defended himself on X/Twitter after one user called his vibe “the worst.”
“My vibe is ‘the worst’ how?” he responded. “Because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when I was just trying to enjoy an event? because car engines were so loud I couldn’t hear him? please tell me more about why im the worst (sic).”
The 33-year-old later added: “My fear has won. i hate being in public.”
The incident comes nearly four months after Cara Delevingne was roasted on social media for refusing Martin’s British Grand Prix grid walk interview. She defended herself on X/Twitter, insisting that an F1 representative had told her to turn down the chat.
