Fairytale of New York could claim #1 after Shane MacGowan’s death.
This week it’s all about Christmas in the singles charts, with Wham!, Mariah Carey and The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl lead a festive charge into the top 10 of the chart.
Last Christmas by Wham! takes the lead at #1, but it’s not over yet. The Queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey, is at #2 with All I Want For Christmas Is You, less than 1,500 chart units behind.
The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale of New York (3) also has a shot at the top spot this week, as fans are campaigning to get the track to number one for the first time since the death of Shane MacGowan.
Other Christmas tracks that could enter the Top 10 this week include Sam Ryder’s You’re Christmas to Me (4), Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree (6), Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s Merry Christmas (7), Michael Bublé’s It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (8), Jorja Smith’s Stay Another Day cover (9) and Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone (10).
And that’s not all! Other festive staples that will continue to rise in the Top 20 week are Bobbly Helms’ Jingle Bell Rock (11), Andy Williams’ It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year (12), Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me (14), Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath the Tree (15), Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas? (16), Dean Martin’s Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (17) and John & Yoko’s Plastic Ono Band on Happy Xmas (War Is Over) (18).
Taylor Swift’s You’re Losing Me could make its UK chart debut at number 18 following its release on streaming services.
