To help those affected by the recent tornadoes in Tennessee, Taylor Swift has donated $1 million (£795,000).
At least six people were killed when severe storms and tornadoes swept through parts of the US state on Saturday, causing widespread property damage.
The 33-year-old singer made a substantial donation to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Tennessee Emergency Response Fund in response to the devastation.
On Monday, CEO Hal Cato confirmed Swift’s contribution to the organization. The fund is helping residents with financial assistance, food, temporary housing and debris removal.
Swift previously donated $1 million to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund in March 2020 to help victims of those tornadoes.
“Nashville is my home and the fact that so many people in Middle Tennessee have lost their homes and so much more is devastating to me,” the pop superstar wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time.
Born in Pennsylvania, the Cruel Summer singer moved to Nashville with her family as a teenager to pursue music. Swift still owns property in Tennessee and votes there, though she now has homes in other states.
Swift is well known for her philanthropy. Most recently, she made generous donations to food banks in every U.S. city she played during her Eras tour earlier this year.
