Ryan Tedder has teased that OneRepublic have a lot of songs in the works for the year 2024.
The singer-songwriter took to social media to hint that fans can expect some new material next year, and that their next single is all but ‘chosen’.
He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Working on new @OneRepublic – quietly collecting loads of songs for 2024….. Think we have the next single picked”.
The last studio album from the “Counting Stars” group was “Human” in 2021.
However, they have been releasing a number of singles since that time.
The fan favorite “West Coast” was released in February 2022.
OneRepublic released a single with DJ and producer Gryffin, “You Were Loved”, in April. The second single from the Top Gun soundtrack, “I Ain’t Worried”, was released the following month: Maverick.
In May 2023 they had the release of the track “Runaway”.
And in September, ‘Mirage’ featuring Mishaal Tamer was released for the video game ‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage’.
He has produced and co-written tracks for Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, Adele and Camila Cabello, among others, but insists he does not try to create hit songs for OneRepublic because his own music has to come from a genuine place.
He told Music Week magazine: “Whether it’s Lil Nas X or Ed Sheeran or bands like us, people want to hear your story. So in 2017 I thought, ‘Well, I’ve been singing about my personal life and my thoughts on things for 10 years…’ My day job is writing hits for other artists, but I’ve never sat down and thought, ‘Let’s write a hit for One Republic.’ Everything we’ve ever put out has just been a reflection or a reaction to me living my life. So if you look at it that way, it’s like if it doesn’t rain, the crops don’t grow. So for me I have to experience rain. I have to feel things, go through things, they have to land authentically in my lap. So the inspiration for the album is two years of life experiences that felt authentic enough to justify a song.
