Cardi B, the renowned rapper behind hits like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” faced a health challenge before her New Year’s Eve performance in Florida on Sunday. The artist took to her Instagram Stories hours before taking the stage, expressing her struggle with illness and stating that she felt as if she were “fighting for her life.”
In the video message shared with her followers, Cardi B recounted feeling unwell upon her arrival in Miami and humorously suggested that she might be “allergic to Florida.” She elaborated on her symptoms, sharing that she had developed a cough and tightness in her chest just four hours after landing in the Sunshine State.
Despite the adversity, the “I Like It” hitmaker powered through her illness and went ahead with her scheduled performance at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach resort as part of Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve.
Cardi B’s commitment to her craft prevailed, as she acknowledged the significance of the New Year’s Eve performance, saying, “I’ve been fighting for three days, and I have a huge performance later. Huge performance. Like, alright, I get that it’s New Year’s, but I have this huge performance, and I’m fighting, fighting.”
This episode comes shortly after Cardi B shared a message on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), indicating her intention to leave “toxic” energy behind in 2023. The artist addressed speculations about her relationship with estranged husband Offset, making it clear that she had not reconciled with him.
