With the anticipation building around her upcoming album, ‘Eternal Sunshine’, set to debut on March 8, and her involvement in the two-part ‘Wicked’ movie adaptation, Ariana Grande finds herself at a crossroads regarding touring this year.
The Grammy-winning artist, known for her powerhouse vocals and chart-topping hits, expressed her dilemma during an appearance on ‘The Zach Sang Show’, admitting that while she feels the “itch” to hit the stage again, she remains undecided about touring in 2024.
When asked about the possibility of touring this year, Grande responded with a tentative “TBD (to be decided)”. She elaborated, stating, “I think I would love to do shows. I love being onstage, I miss being onstage, I miss my fans so much – that’s the honest-to-god truth.”
Grande reflected on her emotional struggles during her last tour and emphasized the importance of redefining her relationship with live performances when she feels ready. Despite her eagerness, she’s cautious not to raise fans’ hopes prematurely, considering her packed schedule with the release of ‘Eternal Sunshine’ and her commitments to the ‘Wicked’ films.
The 30-year-old hinted at the possibility of a shorter run of dates, acknowledging that if she were to tour, it would likely be on a smaller scale. She said, “[The tour] would obviously be shorter. If anything, it would be a littler something. But I definitely do have the itch. I’m not ready to announce any sort of thing or get people too excited because I don’t want to disappoint.”
Grande also revealed that the timing of her new album’s release wasn’t originally planned to coincide with her involvement in the ‘Wicked’ films. She explained, “I did not plan to [make new music now]. I didn’t have the goal to make an album.”
Despite her initial intentions, Grande found herself drawn to creating new music, resulting in ‘Eternal Sunshine’, which features revamped versions of leaked songs and the lead single ‘Yes, And?’.
‘Wicked’, in which Grande stars as Glinda, is slated for release in November, with ‘Wicked Part Two’ following next year, further complicating her decision regarding touring amidst her burgeoning acting career and musical endeavors.
