Rapper Kanye West recently took to Instagram to publicly criticize his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, for their children’s enrollment at Sierra Canyon School, a prominent institution in Los Angeles.
In a post shared on Wednesday night, the “Stronger” rapper urged Kim to withdraw their four children – North, 10, Saint, eight, Chicago, six, and Psalm, four – from Sierra Canyon, labeling it a “fake school for celebrities” that serves the interests of what he referred to as “the system.”
“Kim take my kids out of Sierra Canyon now,” West wrote. “It’s a fake school for celebrities that are used by ‘the system’.”
Expanding on his concerns in the caption, West suggested that “the system” undermines the role of fathers in children’s lives. He shared his personal experience of being separated from his father and expressed a belief that institutions like Sierra Canyon may perpetuate similar dynamics, particularly in their treatment of athletes with involved fathers.
“At this point everybody knows what ‘the system’ is code word for (eye emoji),” West added. “I was removed from my dad by the system and the system removed me from my children When the system drafts athletes they avoid working with those who have their father in their life because they are harder to manipulate My two oldest know they daddy is (sic).”
West’s public criticism comes amid ongoing discussions about the education of their children following the couple’s divorce proceedings, initiated by Kardashian in February 2021 and finalized the following year.
This isn’t the first instance of West expressing dissatisfaction with his children’s schooling arrangements. He had previously advocated for them to attend Donda Academy, his own educational institution, before its closure in late 2022. In a prior interview with broadcaster Tucker Carlson in September 2022, West highlighted his frustrations with Sierra Canyon, alleging a lack of individualized attention and a preference for celebrity students.
While some compromises have been made regarding their children’s education, West’s recent Instagram post underscores his continued concern and desire for greater involvement in shaping their educational experiences.
