Excitement is brewing among fans as BLACKPINK’s Jennie and former Brockhampton member Matt Champion hint at a possible collaboration.
Jennie, the 28-year-old K-pop sensation, recently offered a glimpse of their joint effort on her Instagram Story, tagging the 29-year-old rapper. Despite the anticipation, specifics regarding the release date are still pending.
In the teaser, the pair serenade listeners with lines like: “Slowly… trying upside down, you’re my escape… a reality / You know what you mean to me ’cause I’m leaning on my way making my heart cry / Nothing is love.”
This teaser arrives hot on the heels of Jennie’s foray into the music industry with the launch of her own record label, Odd Atelier. Opting for independent distribution of her solo material, Jennie expressed gratitude for the support she’s received and her eagerness for what lies ahead in her solo career.
In a December Instagram Story, she shared: “This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course BLACKPINK.”
Offering insight into the ethos behind OA, Jennie detailed on the label’s Instagram page: “OA, which stands for ODD ATELIER, is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected. It is a label founded by artist JENNIE in November 2023.”
Meanwhile, the hip-hop collective Brockhampton announced their indefinite hiatus back in 2022.
