Iconic band Blur is set to receive the prestigious O2 Silver Clef Award next month. The ‘Narcissist’ hitmakers will be honored by music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins at the annual O2 Silver Clef awards in London on 5 July. Joining Blur in this recognition are AC/DC, Chaka Khan, Loyle Carner, Mark Knopfler, Young Fathers, and Jacob Collier, all of whom will also be receiving awards at the ceremony.

Blur joins a list of esteemed artists who have previously received the O2 Silver Clef Award, including legends like David Bowie, George Michael, Sir Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Britpop rivals Oasis.

Bassist Alex James expressed his excitement about the honor, stating, “Making music with my brothers in Blur has been one of the great gifts of my life. We are absolutely chuffed to receive the O2 Silver Clef Award and help raise awareness for Nordoff Robbins, a brilliant organization.”

AC/DC will be honored with the Legend Award for their five decades of musical excellence. Brian Johnson of AC/DC remarked, “We’re over the moon to receive the Amazon Music Legend Award. As a band, we’ve been dishing out our own brand of music therapy for the past five decades, so to hear all about how Nordoff Robbins helps the young and the old with the power of music is something that we understand and salute. Thank you for this honor.”

Chaka Khan will receive the Global Impact Award in recognition of her international influence. She expressed gratitude for the honor, emphasizing the power of music to heal and transform lives.

The awards ceremony will also see Loyle Carner winning the Best Male award, Mark Knopfler receiving the Music Icon prize, Young Fathers named Best Live Act, and Jacob Collier honored with the Innovation in Music award.

Other previously announced awardees include Jessie Ware for Best Female, The 1975 for Best Group, Cat Burns for the Best New Music award, Ezra Collective for the Contemporary Music prize, and Texas for the Outstanding Achievement Award.
