Critically-acclaimed alternative duo Phantogram has released the first single of their upcoming project, titled “All A Mystery.” This track marks a significant return for Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter, who blend hazy synths, hypnotic guitars, and powerful drum machines with their mesmerizing vocals, creating a psychedelic soundscape. The single was co-produced by GRAMMY-award-winning producer John Hill, known for his work with Portugal. The Man, Bleachers, and Cage The Elephant, making it a sensational return to form for the New York-based duo.
“All A Mystery” sets the stage for a busy summer as Phantogram embarks on a 27-date North American tour with fellow alternative giants Kings of Leon, spanning August, September, and October. Additional tour dates are expected to be announced soon.
The release of “All A Mystery” also marks Phantogram’s new collaboration with Neon Gold Records, a renowned indie label celebrated for nurturing powerful alt-pop artists such as Charli XCX, HAIM, Tove Lo, MARINA, and Christine and the Queens.
Reflecting on the new single, Phantogram shared: “‘All A Mystery’ was a line we used to sing when we first started writing songs for Phantogram. We would harmonize it together while working in the barn-turned-recording studio. Back then, it was ‘all a mystery’ to us how we came together to become a band, and 14 years later, we are still amazed that we have been doing this for so long. This song touches on love, life, death, and loss. It digs into memories and the wonder of existence, examining the push and pull of time on this planet, and the shared experience of everything all at once as a mere grain of sand on an endless beach.”
Phantogram’s return with “All A Mystery” promises to be a powerful and introspective journey for both the band and their fans, heralding an exciting new chapter in their musical career.
