Radio 2, the UK’s most popular radio station with 13.23 million weekly listeners (RAJAR Q1 2024), is set to host “Radio 2 in the Park” – a three-day musical extravaganza featuring performances from renowned pop stars and DJ sets by beloved station presenters.

The event will be held in Moor Park, Preston, Lancashire, from Friday, September 6th to Sunday, September 8th. For the first time, there will also be a Friday night “Radio 2 in the Park Pre-Party” on the DJ stage.

As announced by Zoe Ball on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Sting will headline Saturday night with his new power rock trio. Following his STING 3.0 tour, Sting (vocals, bass), alongside long-time collaborator Dominic Miller (guitar) and dynamic drummer Chris Maas (Mumford & Sons, Maggie Rogers), will perform selections from his extensive discography, including solo hits, rare tracks, and classics from The Police. The STING 3.0 tour, which launched in Germany last week, has already garnered rave reviews from fans and media alike.

On Sunday night, Pet Shop Boys will headline, presenting their acclaimed “Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live” production. Their set will feature classic hits as well as singles from their latest best-selling album, ‘Nonetheless’.

Tickets for all three days of the event will go on sale at 8:15 AM, Tuesday, June 4th.

Following the successful launch of the Radio 2 DJ stage at Victoria Park, Leicester last year, the ‘big top of bop’ returns to feature some of the station’s favorite presenters, playing hits from the past six decades throughout the weekend.

As announced on Vernon Kay’s show on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, this year will include a Pre-Party on Friday, September 6th, from 5 PM to 11 PM. Presenters such as Sara Cox, Vernon Kay, Scott Mills, Rylan, and DJ Spoony will entertain 5,000 listeners with their DJ sets, kicking off the weekend in style.

Throughout the weekend, presenters will introduce artists on stage and broadcast from “Radio 2 in the Park.” Shows and sets will be available live and on-demand on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer for 30 days following the event.
