Devon Allman, fresh from setting a world record with 50 shows in 50 states in 49 days, and following successful tours with The Allman Betts Family Revival and the 2024 Allman Betts Band tour, is excited to announce his first solo LP in eight years, “Miami Moon.” The album, set to release on August 16 via Allman’s own label, Create Records, marks a significant return for the artist.

The lead single from the album, “White Horse,” will premiere exclusively on Relix this Thursday, June 6, with a wide release on Friday, June 7. For “Miami Moon,” Allman assembled a stellar studio band featuring George Porter Jr. (The Meters) on bass, Ivan Neville (Keith Richards, Dumpstaphunk) on keyboards, Adam Deitch (Lettuce) on drums, Karl Denson (The Rolling Stones) on saxophone, and Jackson Stokes on guitar.

Recorded on 2″ analog tape at the historic Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida—where iconic albums like “Layla” and “Eat a Peach” were recorded—the album was produced by Grammy-winning producer Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Chris “Kingfish” Ingram).

Tom Hambridge praised “Miami Moon” as a masterpiece, highlighting the high level of musicianship and the innovative approach taken by Allman. “Making the Miami Moon record with these legendary musicians has been a high point of my career,” Allman said. “They brought these songs to life with their masterful playing and timeless feels. Writing the songs on bass guitar was a first for me and allowed the grooves to be the main focus. Additionally, recording in the same hallowed halls where Dad made the Eat a Peach record and where Uncle Duane and Eric Clapton recorded the Layla record, made for a very special setting for us all to work in. We kept it fun and we kept it funky, ordering Cuban food, watching the NBA, and jamming in a circle for days.”

Allman describes the album as a blend of past and future influences, with nods to artists like Curtis Mayfield, Sade, The Cure, and Steely Dan. “In a world where you can make records in the basement or your bedroom, I’m so grateful to have done this record in a classic manner,” he added.

“Miami Moon” promises a unique sound, capturing the essence of Miami’s vibrant atmosphere with a mix of funk, freshness, and soul. To support the album, Allman will be touring worldwide with his high-energy six-piece band, the Devon Allman Project.
