Legendary Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has announced an additional US live show at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome on Friday, October 25th, following overwhelming demand.
Fans can sign up for early access to tickets starting at 10am PT on Wednesday, June 12, via David Gilmour’s official website. General ticket sales will begin on Friday, June 14 at 10am PT.
This newly added show joins Gilmour’s previously announced performances, including three nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and five nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City. These concerts mark Gilmour’s first American shows in eight years and are in support of his upcoming album, ‘Luck and Strange’, which is set for release on September 6, 2024, via Sony Music.
The touring band will feature:
David Gilmour on guitar and vocals
Guy Pratt on bass and background vocals
Greg Phillinganes on keyboards
Rob Gentry on keyboards
Adam Betts on drums
Ben Worsley on guitar
Louise Marshall on background vocals
Hattie Webb on background vocals
Charley Webb on background vocals
‘Luck and Strange’, recorded over five months in Brighton and London, is Gilmour’s first album of new material in nine years. Produced by David Gilmour and Charlie Andrew, known for his work with alt-J and Marika Hackman, the album explores themes of aging and mortality, with lyrics primarily written by Polly Samson, Gilmour’s longtime co-writer and collaborator. “It’s written from the point of view of being older; mortality is the constant,” Samson explains. Gilmour adds, “We spent a lot of time during and after lockdown reflecting on these themes.”
The album features eight new tracks and a reworking of The Montgolfier Brothers’ “Between Two Points,” with artwork and photography by renowned artist Anton Corbijn. Contributing musicians include Guy Pratt and Tom Herbert on bass, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd, and Steve DiStanislao on drums, Rob Gentry and Roger Eno on keyboards, with string and choral arrangements by Will Gardner. The title track features a recording of the late Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright from a 2007 jam session at Gilmour’s home. Additional contributions came from live streams Gilmour and his family performed during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, including Romany Gilmour on harp and lead vocals for “Between Two Points” and Gabriel Gilmour on backing vocals.
