Gene Gallagher’s band, Villanelle, is gearing up for their inaugural UK tour. The 22-year-old son of former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton, famed member of All Saints, will kick off the band’s intimate tour on November 19 at Stereo in Glasgow.
Following their Glasgow debut, Villanelle will perform in Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, and Nottingham, concluding their tour on November 28 at Oslo in London. Tickets for the tour will be available for purchase starting Friday, June 21, at 9 a.m.
Villanelle, which consists of Gene Gallagher (vocals), Ben Taylor (guitar), Jack Schiavo (bass), and Andrew Richmond (drums), formed earlier this year. Despite their recent formation, the band has already achieved significant milestones, including opening for Liam Gallagher during his ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary tour, where they played multiple shows at London’s The O2.
Liam Gallagher extended the invitation to his son’s band after being impressed by their performances at early gigs, such as their show at The Marquis, a renowned rock ‘n’ roll pub in London. Villanelle has been diligently working on new music and is expected to announce details about their first release soon.
In addition to Gene, Liam Gallagher’s 24-year-old son Lennon, from his relationship with actress Patsy Kensit, also pursues a musical career with his band, Automation.
Liam Gallagher, known for his candid advice, has shared some words of wisdom with his sons but emphasizes that he allows them to carve their own paths. Addressing fans on Twitter, the 51-year-old musician remarked, “Have fun, keep it surreal, beware of massive *****.”
When a follower expressed concerns about Lennon and Gene drifting apart like Liam and his estranged brother Noel Gallagher, the ‘Wall of Glass’ singer assured, “I’m staying out of it. They’re both doing their own thing, which is fair enough.”
