Charley Pride, pictured performing during his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn., in October of 2000, is prominently featured in the CMT documentary titled “Waiting in the Wings: African Americans in Country Music.” The documentary will be screened at 2 p.m. on June 30 at the Fayetteville Public Library. Pride, who rose to become one of country music’s most significant figures and was the first Black member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, passed away in 2020 at the age of 86 due to complications from covid-19.
