Anberlin is set to release their upcoming full-length album, “Vega,” on August 2 via Equal Vision Records. This eagerly awaited release marks their first proper record since the departure of vocalist Stephen Christian and the addition of Matty Mullins from Memphis May Fire. The twelve-track album showcases Anberlin’s versatility, featuring heavier tracks, industrial influences, and the mellow vibes fans love.
After a five-year hiatus, Anberlin reunited in 2019 without plans for new music. However, the pandemic spurred their creativity, resulting in two EPs in 2022 and 2023, paving the way for “Vega.” Drummer Nate Young describes this new chapter with Matty Mullins as an exciting era for the band.
To coincide with the album announcement, Anberlin released the single “Walk Alone” with a music video. The song addresses the struggle of watching a loved one battle depression, emphasizing compassion and support in relationships. Guitarist Christian McAlhaney notes that “Walk Alone” blends traditional and modern Anberlin sounds, merging vintage elements with contemporary songwriting and production.
