Punk rock band IDLES has teamed up with the popular children’s TV show Hey Duggee to release a guitar-driven cover of the programme’s beloved song, ‘Stick Song’. This collaboration coincides with the launch of a new episode titled ‘The Carrot Badge’, which kicks off Series 5 of Hey Duggee.
In this episode, which pays tribute to the summer solstice and UK music festivals, viewers will witness the Rabbits preparing for the Carrot Solstice, a festive celebration around Carrot Henge. This timely release aligns perfectly with IDLES’ upcoming headline performance at Glastonbury’s Other Stage, scheduled for this Friday at 10:15pm BST. The track is available for listening here.
This isn’t IDLES’ first venture into children’s programming; earlier this year, lead singer Joe Talbot appeared on CBeebies to read ‘Under the Love Umbrella’ as a Bedtime Story.
IDLES’ ongoing tour in support of their UK #1 album ‘TANGK’ includes a landmark set at Glastonbury, which will be broadcast live on BBC Four. Following their festival appearances, the band will embark on an international tour, culminating in a major headline tour across the UK in late 2024, featuring two highly anticipated shows at London’s Alexandra Palace.
‘The Carrot Badge’ marks the beginning of 20 new episodes from Hey Duggee’s 5th Series, produced by Studio AKA in collaboration with BBC Studios Kids & Family and CBeebies. Fans can expect further episodes to premiere on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer later this year.
