Country music artist Josh Turner has revealed details about his upcoming album titled “This Country Music Thing,” marking his impressive 10th studio album. Produced by longtime collaborator Kenny Greenberg, the album features a collection of songs either written or co-written by Turner himself. Scheduled for release on August 16 through MCA Nashville, fans can already pre-order the album along with exclusive merchandise. A vinyl edition of the album is set to hit shelves on September 13.
Accompanying the album announcement is the debut of Turner’s latest single, “Down in Georgia.” Co-written by Tyler Booth, Anthony Olympia, and Brent Rupard, the song has been described as a heartfelt Southern anthem reflecting Turner’s personal experiences. Reflecting on the track, Turner humorously remarked, “I think they’ve been reading my mail, because I married a girl from Georgia and we actually moved to Georgia last year.” “Down in Georgia” follows his earlier release in April, titled “Heatin’ Things Up.”
Looking ahead, Turner plans to embark on “The Greatest Hits Tour” across the United States throughout 2024, following the success of his first Greatest Hits album released in fall 2023. Last year, Turner celebrated the 20th anniversary of his debut album “Long Black Train,” which earned Platinum certification from the RIAA. The album boasts nearly 1.5 million in sales, 1.4 million track downloads, and over 294.3 million streams to date. Its title track, a breakthrough single for Turner, has also achieved Platinum status with over 1.1 million downloads and 242.2 million global streams.
