Julio Foolio, the Florida-based rapper known by his real name Charles Jones, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in Tampa over the weekend, following celebrations for his 26th birthday.
According to Tampa Police, the incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. on Sunday in a hotel parking lot, where officers responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire. Just the day before, Jones had posted videos on his Instagram Story showing him hosting a birthday party at an Airbnb, footage obtained by Fox 13 revealed. Lawyer Lewis Fusco, who had worked with Jones, stated to the New York Times that police later instructed the rapper to leave due to the gathering exceeding occupancy limits.
Subsequently, Jones relocated to Home2 Suites by Hilton in Tampa. When authorities arrived at the scene of the shooting, they discovered two vehicles with bullet holes, as detailed in a press release from the Tampa Police Department. Jones was identified as the deceased victim of the incident. Additionally, three other individuals sustained injuries in the shooting and are currently hospitalized in stable condition. Their identities have not been disclosed by law enforcement.
“The police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting and are actively working to identify those involved,” the police statement mentioned.
The tragic event has prompted an intensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Julio Foolio’s untimely death, casting a somber shadow over the local community and the music industry.
