The Rolling Stones’ iconic “Wild Horses” has received a punk rock makeover from Scottish rockers Skids. This track is one of many featured on the upcoming album “Punk Me Up: A Tribute to The Rolling Stones,” set for release on July 26th in CD, vinyl, and digital formats.
Glass Onyon provided details about the album, which follows the success of “Punk Floyd: A Tribute to Pink Floyd” and “High Voltage Punk: A Tribute to AC/DC.” This new compilation honors The Rolling Stones with contributions from veteran punk bands known for their high-energy performances and rebellious spirit, offering fresh renditions of the Stones’ classics. Fans can expect unique interpretations, such as Fear’s version of “Honky Tonk Women” and The Vibrators’ take on “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
“Punk Me Up” showcases the raw power and unbridled energy of punk rock, reinvigorating classic rock radio staples. Skids’ reimagining of “Wild Horses” exemplifies this, transforming the Jagger/Richards ballad with razor-sharp guitar riffs and anthemic vocals into a fist-pumping blast of pure emotion.
Skids frontman Richard Jobson expressed his excitement, stating, “I loved the idea of taking an iconic Stones track and giving it a punch in the guts. What was once a favorite ballad of mine will never ever sound the same again!”
