Marking the one-year anniversary of their debut album Life Under The Gun, Los Angeles-based band Militarie Gun has released a new track, “Gun Under The Gun (MFG),” created for the WWE 2K24 video game in collaboration with Post Malone. The heavy and menacing song will be used as the entrance theme for Post Malone’s wrestling character and features the signature Militarie Gun “OOH OOH.” Additionally, Militarie Gun’s track “Do It Faster” is included in the WWE 2K24 soundtrack curated by Post Malone.
Following their tour with A Day To Remember, Militarie Gun will continue performing globally through the end of the year. Their tour includes a highly anticipated headline show in Los Angeles on July 25th, supported by Gouge Away, Heart to Gold, and Human Garbage. The band will also play at various festivals, including Lollapalooza, Project Pabst, Thing Festival, Reading & Leeds, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock. Additionally, Militarie Gun will head to Australia to begin a series of shows with Hockey Dad, followed by headline performances and a European tour with Lip Critic, Pluto The Racer, Never Yours, Chiefland, daysdaysdays, and Tripsun on select dates. This September, they will join Manchester Orchestra for the 10-year anniversary COPE tour across North America.
Earlier this year, Militarie Gun released a mini-documentary, Live Under The Sun, which reunites the band with collaborators from their Life Under The Sun EP at Manchester Orchestra’s Atlanta studio. The documentary features guest performances from Manchester Orchestra, Marisa Dabice of Mannequin Pussy, and Christine Goodwyne of Pool Kids, who steps in for Alicia Bognanno of Bully for a performance of “Never F***ed Up Twice.” The documentary highlights the growing community around Militarie Gun and showcases bandleader Ian Shelton’s dynamic songwriting.
Life Under The Sun offers stripped-back versions of songs from Militarie Gun’s acclaimed debut album Life Under The Gun, released last summer. The album includes tracks like “Never F***ed Up Twice” featuring Bully’s Alicia Bognanno, “Very High (Under The Sun),” “My Friends Are Having A Hard Time” featuring Manchester Orchestra, “Will Logic” featuring Mannequin Pussy, and a cover of NOFX’s “Whoops I OD’d.”
Life Under The Gun was celebrated as one of 2023’s best albums, receiving praise from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME, Revolver, Stereogum, SPIN, Paste, The FADER, and more. The album appeared on multiple best-of lists, including Alternative Press, The Ringer, UPROXX, Stereogum, and Rolling Stone, which noted that the album “has taken everything that’s uniquely cathartic about hardcore and lacquered it with insanely catchy melodies.” This catchiness was prominently featured in Taco Bell’s ad campaign with “Do It Faster.”
