Yelm native and 1999 Yelm High School graduate Nui Aalona is on the verge of a breakthrough in the music industry after two decades, thanks to his unique blend of country, reggae, and R&B music dubbed as Nui Country.
With three singles already available for streaming—“Just Add Summer,” “Up in Smoke,” and “Tonight’s on You”—Aalona is gearing up for the release of his next single, “Kiss Me Hello,” on July 12th.
Describing the upcoming track, Aalona revealed it was penned by prominent writers including his manager Kenny Lamb and Barrett Baber, known for his stint on “The Voice” and credits with artists like Cody Johnson and Rhett Atkins. “Barrett has significant writing credits, and it’s an honor to have him contribute to my music,” Aalona remarked. “His collaboration underscores the quality and depth we aim to achieve.”
Beyond his music releases, Aalona is busy organizing the inaugural Nui Country Fest in collaboration with Yelm’s 507 Taproom. Partnering with owner Bill DeVore, Aalona is focused on ensuring a successful debut event.
Set for Saturday, August 24th, at the 507 Taproom in Yelm, the Nui Country Fest promises to showcase Aalona’s distinct musical style and celebrate local talent in an exciting new venture for the artist and his community.
