Birmingham alt-rock band The Silver Lines have unveiled their evocative new single, ‘Tame’, taken from their forthcoming second EP, …And The Lord Don’t Think I Can Handle It. The single captures the essence of their high-octane live performances, which have consistently sold out shows across Europe. Alongside the release, the band has announced a European tour for late 2024, covering the UK, France, Spain, and Germany.

Produced by David Radahd-Jones, formerly of Heaven’s Basement, ‘Tame’ showcases a blend of post-punk and indie-rock influences. The track is driven by a purposeful bassline, powerful drums, biting guitar riffs, and an urgent, expressive spoken vocal delivery, building to an explosive chorus before transitioning into a euphoric, raucous finale.

In discussing the new track, The Silver Lines explained: “‘Tame’ explores the power of maintaining femininity in response to a patriarchal environment, regardless of gender and political stance. The lyrics delve into themes of secrecy, hiding one’s true self, and the overindulgence of pleasure which may be unbecoming and externally painful.”

The band further elaborated on the song’s musical structure, highlighting the contrast between its sparse verses and heavy choruses. “The outro, intentionally longer than the actual song, is a deliberate move to counter the very formulated music being released currently which follows a ‘certain’ structure in order to attract their 10 minutes.”

Reflecting on their upcoming EP, the band said: “…And The Lord Don’t Think I Can Handle It captures the energy of our live sound – angsty, bold, yet more introspective than our earlier records. The tracks depict the cyclical nature of our lives, swinging from chaotic moments to nostalgic reflections.”

The Silver Lines have received considerable support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, Clash, NME, Louder Than War, Ones To Watch, and Earmilk, as well as Spotify’s ‘All In Rock’ editorial playlist. They have built a solid reputation as a touring band, performing on significant stages, including Trans Musicales in France, New Colossus Festival in New York, and dates in LA. They have also played at Stockton Calling, Focus Wales, MosFest, BBC Introducing stage at LakeFest, The Alternative Escape, and opened for The Buzzcocks.
