Andrew Larison, known professionally as Andy J, has harbored a passion for music since a young age. Now, he has a promising opportunity to elevate his career by entering his new song, “Goodbye and Good Riddance,” into the America’s Next Top Hitmaker contest, sponsored by Rolling Stone.
Reflecting on his early realization of his musical passion, Larison described the experience as an emotional rush. “That feeling that I did get was like, you get into a perfect relationship, and you’re like, ‘Oh, I love this person,'” he shared. “That’s kind of how it felt. It was that high of an adrenaline rush for me at the beginning.”
Hailing from Savannah, Larison has focused his talents on country music, drawing inspiration from country stars such as the late Toby Keith. His heartfelt vocals and traditional country songs resonate with themes of heartbreak and the open road.
The America’s Next Top Hitmaker competition is highly competitive, requiring more than just talent to secure a spot. “Just to be involved in something like that is like, wow, you had to actually be something or be eligible to be involved in something like that,” said Larison. “There are a lot of people, and it’s a lot of competition.”
