Two acclaimed country music entertainers are set to stage a concert at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 28, at the Old Armory Recreation Center in Waynesville.
Ronnie Call, a Waynesville native and owner of Country Soul Entertainment, has organized the event to bolster the local country music scene. Call is an award-winning country music singer in his own right, having been named the 2023 New Country Band of the Year by the North American Country Music Association International.
The concert will feature Nashville recording artist Jeff Bates, who will perform some of his Billboard country chart-topping hits, including “Long Slow Kisses,” “I Wanna Make You Cry,” and “One Second Chance,” along with a selection of Conway Twitty songs.
Call will also perform at the event with his band, The Waterz Edge. Reflecting on the venue’s significance, he shared, “I grew up playing basketball at the old armory and also spent a summer working there as a teenager. As an adult country music artist, I’m looking to bring concert events in the Old Armory back to life.”
Tickets are priced at $15 in advance and can be purchased at countrysoulevents.com or at the door. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The Old Armory Recreation Center is located at 44 Boundary St., Waynesville.
