To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Phil Collins’ fifth solo studio album, Both Sides, a special edition 5-LP box set is set to release on September 20. This deluxe edition features the remastered full original album, cut at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, and includes a treasure trove of early demo tracks, rarities, and live performances. The box set, titled Both Sides (All The Sides), brings together these elements for the first time on vinyl.

The set will be housed in a slipcase with picture sleeves and a 16-page booklet containing newly written and extensive liner notes by esteemed journalist Michael Hann. The collection not only revisits the original album but also delves into Collins’ creative process and live performances from that era.

Phil Collins on Both Sides:

Phil Collins considers Both Sides his most personal album, a sentiment he expressed in a 2016 interview with The Guardian, describing it as his “favorite album from a songwriting and creative perspective.” The album, which Collins wrote, performed, and produced entirely by himself, was completed in just six weeks in his home studio.

Upon its original release in 1993, Both Sides reached No. 1 in the UK and throughout Europe and No. 13 in the US, becoming a global multi-platinum seller. Michael Hann notes in his liner essay, “Time has magnified its virtues, and perspective has amplified its truths. Both Sides may not have been the monster hit its predecessors were, but it might be the most important record in the Phil Collins discography.”

Live From the Board: Official Bootleg

Additionally, a limited-edition 10-inch vinyl titled Live From the Board: Official Bootleg will be released for RSD Black Friday on November 29. This four-track EP, originally released in 1995 under the name Phil Collins & The Indescribable Din, features songs recorded during the Both Sides tour in 1994. The tracks include “Sussudio,” “Easy Lover,” “Separate Lives,” and “My Girl.”
