This weekend, Raymond James Stadium will host a record-breaking crowd of over 100,000 fans for Morgan Wallen’s highly anticipated two-night concert tour stop in Tampa.
The excitement surrounding Wallen’s performance was palpable. “It’s been wild,” remarked Noelle Cummings. “He really popped off and he’s doing big things.” Olivia Derienzo, who traveled from New Jersey specifically for the concert, shared her enthusiasm: “This is why I booked the flight. It’s planned around this.”
The demand for the event was evident, with a lengthy line forming outside the stadium for merchandise. Some fans, who purchased tickets nine months in advance, paid a premium for front-row seats. “It was $3,500 for six seats,” said Chris Lynn.
Tailgating commenced several hours before the show, as fans prepared for an evening of entertainment. “We took a half-day,” said Cummings. “My boss knows where I am. That’s all that matters.” Jolynn Warner added, “I just love sitting back and listening to music and enjoying the time and everyone around us having a good time. This is what summer is all about.”
Wallen’s devoted fans were not disappointed. “It was amazing,” said Rubi Moser. “Much better than I thought.” Cara Benson echoed the sentiment, saying, “I’m so excited to be here. I’m so excited that everyone came out for this.”
The Tampa Sports Authority has issued a traffic alert due to expected congestion around the stadium. Attendees are advised to use alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic on Dale Mabry, Himes, Columbus, and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Additionally, Tom McEwen Blvd. (also known as Tampa Bay Blvd.) will be closed between Dale Mabry and Himes Ave starting at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, and will remain closed until after concert traffic has cleared on July 12.
