Country music artist Cody Johnson showcased a flawless rendition of the national anthem at the All-Star Game, held at Globe Life Field in Texas. This came in the wake of a controversial performance by Ingrid Andress the previous night, which led to an apology from Andress admitting she was intoxicated.
Johnson, adorned in a white cowboy hat and cream-colored blazer, approached the microphone between the mound and home plate on Tuesday night. He ceremoniously removed his hat and raised it several times before commencing his rendition.
Earlier in the season, the 37-year-old Texan had thrown out the ceremonial first pitch at Globe Life Field, setting the stage for his anthem performance.
Given the heightened scrutiny following Andress’ performance, which prompted discussions and an apology on Instagram where she mentioned plans for rehab, Johnson’s rendition was particularly noted for its seamless execution.
Adding to the evening’s musical lineup, Canadian duo Nice Horse, comprising Katie Rox and Brandi Sidoryk, delivered a harmonious rendition of the anthem before Johnson took center stage. Their performance also garnered praise for its smooth delivery and vocal harmony.
Johnson is slated to return to Globe Life Field for a performance in November, further cementing his connection with Texas and his impact on the country music scene.
