Country music artist Brian Kelley, formerly half of the Grammy-nominated duo “Florida Georgia Line” with Tyler Hubbard, showcased his solo career at the 2024 Republican National Convention on Wednesday. A native of Volusia County, Kelley took the stage alongside the Holy Redeemer Church of God in Christ Choir.
Kelley’s performance featured his single “American Spirit,” released on July 4th weekend in 2022. The song pays homage to American freedoms and honors Kelley’s grandfather, John Edward Kelley, a World War II U.S. Army veteran who earned two purple hearts as a prisoner of war.
The convention’s theme, “Make America Strong Once Again,” highlighted discussions on international issues such as the Israel-Hamas conflict, Iran, and China. Kelley shared the stage with notable Florida figures including U.S. Reps Matt Gaetz, Brian Mast, Anna Paulina Luna, and Michael Waltz, as well as Kimberly Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr., all expressing criticism of President Joe Biden and support for former President Donald Trump.
