Charli XCX, also known as Charlotte Aitchison, has hinted at the possibility of stepping away from the music industry following the release of her sixth album, Brat.
The 31-year-old singer-songwriter, who has been a prominent figure in music since 2008, recently spoke to Billboard about her future plans, indicating a potential shift towards acting. Reflecting on fan speculation about Brat being her final album, Charli XCX shared, “I saw this tweet the other day, ‘Does anyone think that this is Charli’s last album?’ Then I was like, ‘Actually, that could be cool if I didn’t really make music anymore after this’.”
Expressing her interest in pursuing acting further, she added, “I’m definitely thinking about it because I really want to act. I don’t know. I’m just so deep in this, I can’t see outside of Brat, but it’s funny.”
Charli XCX also mentioned her aspiration to explore different creative avenues, stating, “I kind of want to make a Lou Reed record, to be honest. That would definitely be a pretty big swing.”
In addition to her music career, Charli XCX is set to make her mark in the film industry with an upcoming role in the horror film Faces of Death, directed by Daniel Goldhaber. The movie, a remake of the 1978 classic, features a talented ensemble including Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira, Stranger Things’ Dacre Montgomery, and Josie Totah from the Saved by the Bell reboot.
As Charli XCX contemplates her next steps amidst the release of Brat and her burgeoning interest in acting, fans await her decision on the future direction of her artistic endeavors.
