The Kunes Clark Band, composed of singer/songwriter Jimmy Kunes (Cactus, Savoy Brown, Humble Pie) and guitarist/songwriter Angus Clark (Cher, Joe Lynn Turner, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), has released details about their debut self-titled album, set to drop on August 30th. Known for their longstanding musical partnership in and around New York City, the duo has enlisted a stellar lineup for the album, featuring drummer Van Romaine (Steve Morse Band), bassist Winston Roye (Soul Asylum), and keyboardists Rob Clores (The Black Crowes) and John Deley (David Johansen).
The album is a culmination of both new material and revived demos from 14 years ago, showcasing their dynamic blend of rock and roll influences. Their first single, “Step Up Step Aside,” has already made waves with its energetic guitar riffs and powerful vocals. Reflecting on the track, Jimmy Kunes described it as a narrative of love lost and late nights out, while guitarist Angus Clark highlighted its fusion of Jimi Hendrix-inspired guitar riffs and Kunes’ distinctive vocal style.
“We bounce off each other in the writing process,” Angus Clark explained. “The energy on this tune reminds me of Thin Lizzy.”
Fans can expect a diverse range of sounds on the album, from the driving rhythms of “Release Yourself” to the introspective tones of “Cross To Bear.” The band’s straightforward rock approach is set to resonate with listeners fond of Led Zeppelin, the Black Crowes, and Rival Sons.
To celebrate the album’s release, The Kunes Clark Band will host a record release party on September 4th at the Bitter End in NYC, promising an electrifying live performance to showcase their new material.
