Pixies have unveiled a fresh single titled “Chicken,” heralding the arrival of their upcoming studio album “The Night the Zombies Came,” set for release on October 25th via BMG. This marks their tenth album, counting their seminal 1987 mini LP “Come On Pilgrim,” and their first new music since 2022’s acclaimed “Doggerel” LP. The album, featuring 13 new tracks, promises to be the band’s most cinematic yet, showcasing their enduring creativity.

During the sessions for “The Night the Zombies Came,” Pixies introduced Emma Richardson (of Band Of Skulls) as their new bassist, marking the first time a British musician joins their lineup. Additionally, guitarist Joey Santiago expands his role, contributing lyrics for the song “Hypnotised” through a complex poetic form known as a sestina.

The album announcement comes amid a busy tour schedule that includes approximately 70 live shows worldwide throughout 2024, with additional dates expected in 2025. Pixies recently concluded a tour across North America with Modest Mouse and Cat Power, and are currently performing across Europe. They are slated to return to the UK in August for sold-out headline shows and major festival appearances.
