The Truckee Music Fest will make its debut this summer, with Nashville country star Kip Moore headlining the event on August 9-10. This marks Moore’s first performance in Truckee, and his appearance was a key inspiration for the festival’s creation.
Festival organizer Stacey Larson was inspired to bring a similar musical experience to Truckee after seeing Moore perform in Virginia. The Truckee Music Fest, organized by Jaime Llegare and Stacey Larson of Soaring Seven LLC with support from the Town of Truckee and the Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District, aims to celebrate local artists while providing affordable entertainment for the community.
Kip Moore, known for his 2012 debut album Up All Night featuring hits like “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” and “Beer Money,” is excited about the intimate setting of the new festival. “All year we’ve been playing really big, bombastic places, so we can’t wait for a change,” Moore said. “We are excited to come. I always love going to California.”
Moore highlighted the unique nature of live performances, noting, “We are ebbing and flowing as the night goes. The audience dictates much more of the show than we do. The crowd can take us to new heights.” He expressed enthusiasm for performing at smaller venues, where he feels a stronger connection with the audience and can showcase deeper cuts from his repertoire.
With its combination of local talent and major artists like Moore, the Truckee Music Fest promises to be a vibrant celebration of music and community.
