Black Sabbath’s classic lineup has faced significant challenges over the years, culminating in the band’s final album and tour featuring vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, and bassist Geezer Butler, but notably missing original drummer Bill Ward who departed in 2012 due to contractual disagreements.
Recently, there has been speculation about a potential final Black Sabbath show with the original lineup, including Ward, who had not previously been involved. Now, Ward has broken his silence on the matter, expressing unexpected enthusiasm to participate.
“Hey ya, Bill Ward checking in regarding all the updates on a possible Sabbath show in England,” Ward shared.
“I’m in for playing some of everyone’s old favorites. Loved playing them then, I’d love to play them one last time. I’m not going to talk about my health publicly except to say, everyday I’m pretty good for 76 years old, I’m active musically every day, and I have a very busy and gratifying life.
“Love you all, all the fucking time.”
Ward’s willingness to reunite with Osbourne, Iommi, and Butler for a final performance marks a significant moment for fans who have hoped to see the original lineup together again. The potential show, if it materializes, would likely be a poignant farewell to Black Sabbath’s iconic journey in heavy metal.
