Benjamin Tod, known for his blend of Appalachian roots and punk edge with the Lost Dog Street Band, is shifting gears with his upcoming album, Shooting Star. Set for release on October 18, the new record marks Tod’s venture into traditional honky tonk country, a genre that contrasts sharply with his usual style.

In a recent statement, Tod reflected on his early experiences that shaped his music career. “I started playing on the streets of Lower Broad as a teenager and got kicked out of Robert’s, Layla’s, and Gruhn Guitar more times than most regulars before I turned 20,” Tod said. “Looking back now, I see how much those experiences shaped and influenced me. As I’m on the ‘backside of thirty,’ I can feel the Honky Tonk deep down in my blood.”

Tod’s decision to create a classic country album has been bolstered by producer Andrija Tokic, known for his work with artists like Melissa Carper and Ian Noe. Additionally, Tod enlisted a team of experienced Nashville studio musicians to ensure the album captures an authentic honky tonk sound.
