Queens Of The Stone Age have announced the cancellation of several additional tour dates due to frontman Josh Homme’s ongoing medical treatment. This decision comes after Homme underwent emergency surgery, which necessitated his return to the U.S. earlier this month. The band had already cancelled several performances, including festival appearances in Slovakia, Berlin, and Vienna, to accommodate his medical needs.
In a statement, the band explained: “Due to continued medical care, it is under doctors’ orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States. The following QOTSA festival performances have been cancelled… The Homme family and QOTSA are so grateful for the outpouring of well wishes and kind understanding during this time.”
The newly cancelled dates include performances at the Way Out West festival in Sweden, Oya Festival in Norway, Sydforsolen in Denmark, Le Cabaret Vert in France, Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands, Pukkelpop in Belgium, and Vilar de Mouros Festival in Portugal. Fans are advised to check festival websites for updated information.
Queens Of The Stone Age are scheduled to begin their North American tour in Boston on September 27. However, it remains uncertain whether Homme will be well enough to participate. No additional details about his medical condition have been released.
The band’s latest album, In Times New Roman, was released last year. Guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen recently hinted that the band may take a break before planning for 2025. He told NME: “I think we’re going to take a little break. I know we have some plans for next year that are loosely being talked about.”
