Post Malone’s prominent year in the country music scene has taken another exciting turn. The genre-crossing star was announced on Monday as the headliner for the Outriders’ Wild Horses Festival, set to take place at Petco Park in San Diego on December 30. The festival promises to showcase “the classic sounds of the Modern West on the shores of the Pacific.”
Malone’s year has been notably diverse. He headlined the second day of Los Angeles’s premier hip hop festival, Rolling Loud, and performed country covers at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio. Additionally, he topped the charts with “I Had Some Help,” a collaboration with Morgan Wallen.
Originally known for his rap and pop hits, the 29-year-old artist has recently embraced a more folk-inspired sound with his 2023 album “Austin” and has released twangier, feature-filled singles from his upcoming album “F-1 Trillion.” Despite announcing a 21-date tour for “F-1 Trillion” in June, Malone’s schedule had notably excluded California, except for a festival appearance in San Francisco.
This year marks the fourth annual Wild Horses festival and the eighth stadium show at Petco Park in 2024, setting a new record for the venue. Last year’s festival was headlined by Zach Bryan, following the success of his self-titled 2023 album. Previous headliners have included gospel-inspired rocker Paul Cauthen and country acts Midland and Cody Jinks.
Malone will be supported by a trio of opening acts: Paul Cauthen, singer-songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson, and bluegrass rising star Zach Top.
Presale tickets for the December 30 festival will be available starting August 9 at 10 a.m., with general sales beginning at 1 p.m. the same day. Ticket prices have not been disclosed. To register for presale tickets, visit outriderspresent.com/event/wild-horses.
