Machine Gun Kelly Goes Country with Cover of The Chicks’ ’90s Hit

by Barbara

Machine Gun Kelly is expanding his musical horizons with a new country twist. The artist, known for his work in rap and rock, has taken on a cover of The Chicks’ 1998 chart-topper “There’s Your Trouble.” Released as part of Spotify Singles, the rendition features Kelly’s distinctive voice adapted to a classic country style, complete with twangy vocals, guitar riffs, drums, and fiddle.

Performed at CMA Fest in June, the cover showcases Kelly’s versatility, juxtaposing his rock-infused style with traditional country elements. His rendition captures the song’s poignant lyrics, with lines like, “Should’ve all worked out but it didn’t / She should be here now but she isn’t.”

During the festival, Kelly also performed “My Ex’s Best Friend” and collaborated with Jelly Roll on “Need a Favor.” The duo’s joint project, “Lonely Road,” samples John Denver’s iconic “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” and features a music video with their real-life partners, Megan Fox and Bunnie XO. In the video, Kelly’s character engages in a dramatic bank heist, resulting in his imprisonment, while Fox and their fictional child visit him behind bars.
