by Barbara

The Millport Pier Hotel is stepping in to fill the void left by the departure of the popular Country Music Festival. The hotel, formerly known as the Royal George, will host a three-day country music event later this month from August 16-18.

While specific acts have yet to be announced, the hotel promises a weekend filled with live performances by a range of talented musicians.

A spokesperson for the event stated, “Mark your calendars for Millport Country Music Weekend this year. We have plenty of amazing musicians performing live all weekend.”

The previous Country Music Festival, which ran for five years, was known for attracting top acts such as The Wandering Hearts and Shane Ritchie, along with a mix of American and UK talent. The original Country and Western Festival, launched in the 1990s, featured rodeo events and live bands in local pubs and bars, even making an appearance in the BBC sitcom Rab C. Nesbitt. The Millport Pier Hotel aims to continue this rich tradition with its upcoming country music weekend.
